There are three major types of the bin level indicators' tilt switch sensors that farmers must know about. The switch sensors are obtainable in mercury, solidate and mechanical switches. Each one has distinctive advantages and disadvantages that is why farmers have carefully weigh up the actual unit that can specifically meet their needs.

A mechanical switch sensor has a simple design with no toxic mercury. This is the cheapest in the market but not so ideal for hazardous explosive dust environment. This has bare metal probe and no remote control too.

Mercury switches are priced quite dearly. These surpass the standard of industrial operations and have remote control unit included which make farm work less arduous. Their toxic mercury, however, are pretty overwhelming.

Grain level indicators which have solidate switches are known mercury-free. The thing is, these can never operate if remote control units are not available. These also cost a lot higher than average. But since these switches are the most ideal compared to the two, ranchers had better go for those so as to ensure right monitoring of the grain crops.
