Steps In Gas Log Installation

By Dale Peck

Firewood is used to provide fire which in turn warms the immediate surroundings. This method has been used since earlier times to protect the people from the cold weather especially during the winter season. More than a couple of decades ago, gas log installation South Lake TX, have introduced the concept of producing fire in furnaces without the use of actual wood.

Gas logs are burners that are made of ceramic or cement which are formed to look like real firewood. Usually, propane supplies the substance they need in order to produce combustion. Vented burners require dampers that are partially or fully opened. Ventless burners need a closed damper. Even if they function with the help of volatile substances, they should not, at all cost, be used in effluvium burning furnaces.

It is very important to identify whether your fireplace is wood or volatile substance burning. Ironically, gas logs should only be installed on wood burning fireplaces. Installing them on the wrong one may cause asphyxiation because of increased smoke production or worse, it can cause flames that can burn down a house.

Masonry fireplaces or those that have a firebox and chimney are good for the ventless and also for the vented kinds. An example of these is a tilted upward furnace that is made of concrete. Dampers that are rectangular in shape and which opens and closes are suitable for both types of artificial woods. Volatile substance stoves are certainly incapable of installation.

Installation requires user friendly steps. Gird the burner pan after securing that the fireplace spigot is shut off. Attach the safety valve to the nearest pan. Tightening the connection point with a tape is advisable.

Connect the supply line and the effluvium outlet to each other. You can test if there are no leaks by spraying bubbly water on the connection. Bubbling signifies leaks. If this happens, disconnect, reconnect and tighten. Then, check for leakage again by doing the same process.

What follows is attaching the parts. Connect the main assembly and diverter bracket to the pan. A heat shield should cover the heat valve to prevent it from overheating. Afterward, install the sand, rocks and logs.

In putting the three elements, evenly scatter the sand first over the burner. This will help the equipment produce a more consistent fire. Never forget to keep the pilot light from anything that can obscure it. Put rock wool and vermiculite on top of the sand. Pour lava rocks all over the furnace. Place the grate on top of the pan and stock the artificial woods accordingly.

The user manual can also provide you with tips on how to maintain your effluvium powered artificial woods. A more efficient way of heating has been provided by gas log installation South Lake TX. It has also allowed the environment to relax from too much carbon because it releases fewer emissions. Though effective and convenient, there are still those who prefer the warm glow and unique smell of natural burning firewood. In choosing your heating system, you need to assess your preference.
