Construct Pavements With Asphalt Paving Phoenix AZ Contractors

By Essie Osborn

Different materials can be used to construct pavements including bricks, stone, stamped concretes, and asphalt. However, the asphaltic material offers far more durable and cost effective option. Although other materials may be durable, they are costly. However, with asphalt paving Phoenix AZ contractors, installing pavements may be cost effective for you.

Pavements add economic value to premises. A real estate property owner who would like to sell a home may consider installing pavements such as parking lot and driveways in order to attract a higher market value. In order to ensure that pavements last for long, the design should be done properly.

From the preparation of the site including removal of loose clay soils and garbage, to the installation of blacktop and sealcoat, all the procedures must be done properly. The base needs to be leveled while also allowing the crown to edge grading. The application of crushed aggregate stones is also another thing that has to be done as it should be. The stones are compacted using the heavy duty rollers to make them firm before applying the hot mix asphaltic finish.

If you have extensive cracks which have spread to large sections of pavements, you may have to use resurfacing. This procedure repairs all the cracks at once, and it is cheap thought it may not be used many times. Patching is applied for cracks such as alligatored cracking.

Asphaltic paved surfaces undergo an oxidation process. This is part of the aging process but naturally it occurs slowly. However, there are environmental factors which can cause the oxidation to accelerate. The oxidation process continues until the surface begins to change its color. When it turns form jet black to gray, it implies that the visco-elasticity property is not diminishing.

There should be no ground movement because it can lead to cracks and depressions. The soils have to be compacted because loose soils cause potholes to form easily. Asphalt will oxidize as it ages and this is natural for the material. The molecular compounds of asphaltic material keep on reshuffling and re-arranging themselves as they seek an equilibrium state, a process that happens throughout the entire life.

The oxidation process causes pavements to become brittle and hardened. They cannot expand or contract uniformly in times of weather changes. Asphaltic materials last for many years because they can expand and contract. When it is hot, the material expands and when it cools, the pavements contracts. The same happens when the vehicle loads pass over pavements. The pavement materials can move and get back to their shape thus reducing the chances of cracking.

Although with limited color choices, the asphaltic pavement material looks attractive in its jet black appearance. It is a least expensive material which you can use to construct pavement surfaces in old or new homes. If you want to install pavements is newly constructed buildings, you may have to allow the ground to settle. This may take a couple of months but it is very important to avert possible soil movements when you have already installed driveways.
